Celebrating Mother’S 21 Years of independence in true mother spirit.
For 21 years Mother has remained independent and throughout those years it has nurtured this rebellious spirit, not only in the work it has done for its clients, but even more in the work it has done for itself. Since the beginning, Mother’s outspoken creativity has championed serious causes — equal pay, gay rights, breastfeeding, body issues, classism, religion, homelessness and hooliganism to name just a few.
To celebrate its 21st birthday we went through the archives and curated the best of all the Mother projects to be displayed in an exhibition held at the old Central St. Martens school building. The show’s title, Not For Sale, is Mother’s declaration of independence. It cannot be bought— which is a rare position to be in, in an industry full of acquisitions, mergers and holding companies. In fact, all the work displayed would have likely never been conceived of with external overseers to answer to.
The exhibition was an experience in itself, designed and orchestrated to welcome attendants into an immersive experience that embodied the true Mother spirit and gave everyone a taste of what it’s like to be part of this legendary group of creative rebels.
